Cabbage Casserole


Instructions

Cut cabbage into chunks. Cook until tender. Fry bacon, drain, and crumble. Add green pepper and onion to skillet and cook until tender. Add bacon. Set aside. Make medium white sauce: cook over medium heat until smooth (flour and butter). Slowly add milk, cook stirring until mixture slightly thickens. Add soup, salt, pepper. Place a layer of cabbage, sprinkle with cheese and bacon mixture. Repeat. Top with cracker/bread crumbs.

 

Ingredients

  • 1 medium size head of cabbage
  • 8 slices of bacon
  • 1 green pepper (chopped)
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 2 cups of medium white sauce
    • 2 tbsp. of butter
    • 2 tbsp. of flour
    • 2 cups of milk
  • 1 can of cream of celery or chicken soup
  • 1 1/2 cups of diced cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tsp. of salt
  • 1/4 tsp. of pepper
  • 1 cup of cracker or bread crumbs
